The Askellians are a bipedal lupine race, having many characteristics of the Earth's wolf. Their bodies are covered in fur, they have wolf ears, clawed hands and feet, large fanged mouth, and a tail which is used for balance. In many ways, the Askellians resemble the "Werewolf" of ancient Earth folklore. Askellians have superior hearing and scent capabilites, but poor eyesight. The Askellian hip and leg structure allows them to run on all fours if needed, reaching speeds twice that of a human. The hip and leg structure also allows them to leap twice the distance of a human. Askellians range in height from 7 feet to 8 feet tall for males and 6 feet to 7 feet tall for females. Weight range is from 250 to 400 lbs for males and 200 to 300lbs for females. The hair color ranges from a light grey to solid black and from a light tan to dark brown. Although very rare, some Askellians are born pure white. All Askellians have yellowish eyes. Internally, the Askellian anatomy is very much like that of humans. All the major organs are basically the same, although the Askellian Stomach is much more complex than a humans and thier heart is very large and powerful. Askellians also have very long powerful muscles in thier legs and upper torso. Askellian females are capable of having multiple births, usually 4 to 5 childern at once, which are referred to as "litters". Females are limited to only one litter by the government due to over population problems. The Askellian's infamous "Blood Rage" is caused by a gland in thier brain that acts somewhat like the Adrenal gland in humans. During times of stress, it sucretes an enzyme into the brain which causes the heart rate to double. Strength is increased, pain tolerance is increased, and senses are heightened. An Askellian in a Blood Rage can fight on for hours after sustaining mortal wounds as long as they don't calm down. After many battles, Askellian warriors have been known to suddenly fall down and die as soon as the fighting stops. The down fall of this "Rage" is that they lose control of reason and thought and go into a frenzy. Warriors in the grip of a Blood Rage have been known to attack and kill thier own comrades, not knowing what they were doing. Although some drugs have been developed to counter the effects of the Blood Rage, Askellians are taught at an early age how to suppress thier anger and control thier rage.
